The company I work for need to have a COMAH assessment carried out, to establish whether or not we fall under the COMAH Regs. This is not something I have ever done so wouldn't know where to start. It is a warehouse/distribution centre and we carry a lot of aerosols and some flammable liquids such as paint, thinners and screenwash.
They company is quite happy to commission someone to do this work but we don't have any organisations or individuals lined up to help us out.
Have any of you guys has a Comah assessment carried out? Would you be able to give me the names of a company or individual who might be able to help us out with this work? We are in Tamworth, Staffordshire if that is of any relevence.
It is just the names of some one who can help us out that I need please.
Thanks in advance.

Why have you posted the same question again so soon?
The answer you want / the way to work out if COMAH applies to your site has been explained in your original post.
No specialist safety skills are required to work out if COMAH applies.
Its is often quite obvious.
As previous - determine the classification of hazardous substances you have on your site - flammable, toxic etc. Compare the inventory quantity with the limits given in the COMAH guidace/Regulations schedules.
I doubt if it would take more than 30minutes.

If you read the HSE L111 Control of Major Accident Regs guidance, the following figures are given.
Following the CLP classification.
All figures in tonnes
LT = Lower Tier UT = Upper Tier
P2 Flammable gas LT 10 UT 50
P3a Flammable aerosols LT 150 UT 500
P3b Flammable aerosols LT 5000 UT 50000
P5a Flammable liquids LT 10 UT 50
P5b Flammable liquids LT 50 UT 200
P5c Flammable liquids LT 5000 UT 50000
I'll send you the bill for consultancy services.... how about £1000.
If you want a full COMAH safety case writing, then call me for a quote.

You will also need a DSEAR/ATEX risk assessment doing as well.
Also a hazardous area classification assessment.
Happy to quote.

Names of people who can do this include Tom, Dick and Harry.
Any numerate person can do this.

As everyone has said determining whether you are or are not in scope of the regulations is relatively easy and something you could do yourself...the resultant safety reporting and assessments are a whole different ball game and you will need specialist advice to complete.
