About 18 months ago I started a small contact list for ex military people who have moved out of the services into Health and Safety. The aim being to give a 'foot in the door' for anyone seeking employment or advice on joining the health and safety
world.
Whilst this group sees very little correspondence, what it has done is give two people jobs which they may never have even heard off or been considered for through normal job applications.
If any other forum members with a military background, would be interested in joining this forum please do contact me.

I too would like to be included, my background is ex Army "REME" (took voluntary redundancy - phase 2) after 15 years service. Completed my initial Health and Safety "formal" training as a resettlement course by attending a safety management course at the "then" Plymouth Tech College, back in June 94, and have been working ever since, not necessarily full time in the health and safety field, but as an additional duty. I am now attending a day release diploma 1 course with exams scheduled for June 02. I am currently looking out for a full time safety post in the South West. Looking forward to taking part in the new forum

Hello Peter,
I would be happy to join your forum. Please send details.
I left the RAF in 1999 after serving for 10 years. I am now employed as a Safety Advisor for a large abattoir.
Very much a new career for me, I completed the NEBOSH certificate in June this year and will be starting the Nottingham and Trent HS&E management diploma in Feb 2002.
I must say that I was suprised at the number of ex forces personnel on a recent Accident Investigation course, around half of the 12 delegates!
Look forward to hearing from "the forum"
