JOB OPPORTUNITY - Company Safety, Health & Environment Officer for THUS Group plc, (incorporating the Demon Internet brand), based Glasgow, c.£21k + car.

Provide professional advice, information, support and assistance to the business on a wide range of safety matters including: Office & Call Centre activities; Peripatetic workers; Construction & street works; Managing contractors; Working at height; Radio frequency radiation; Manual handling; Fire precautions.

Travel as required to sites located throughout UK. Conduct audits and inspections. Investigate accidents and near hits. Provide clear, accurate reports and management data. Liase with external authorities and bodies. Conduct & support risk assessments activity. Produce practical and pragmatic procedural documentation. Produce and deliver presentations and training courses. Attend and support safety and operational management meetings. Other duties commensurate with the post.

IOSH Diploma or equivalent professional qualification or experience. Appropriate safety expertise with minimum of 3 years safety & health experience preferably in telecoms or similar multi-site organisation in the service or technology industry. Experience of accident investigation and liaison with enforcement authorities. Experience of environmental management systems and audits an advantage.

Professionally credible with tenacity, diplomacy and influencing skills. Ability to work confidently at all levels of the organisation. Excellent verbal, presentational and written communication skills. Office I.C.T. literate, with good understanding of Microsoft Office software. Flexible and able to adapt the approach to changing organisational circumstances. A team player with the ability to work on their own initiative.
