Posted By Byron Rodgers Anyone got the details of an inexpensive indemnity insurance provider? One which specialises in Safety, consultancy, that sort of thing. I'm just about to start up and I know I need this cover from day one. Thanks Byron

Posted By peter gotch Byron, Can't answer your direct question, but there is a broker often advertising in the Practitioner. You need to look at the excesses, though these should be rather less than for a multi-disciplinary practice such as ours (where it is a six figure sum). Also insurers starting to exclude any cover for asbestos, an area which is a potential banana skin for a H&S consultant. Good luck Peter

Posted By Geoff Burt Paul Mine's much of a muchness with another company but I was talking to a fire consultant last week and his is £2700 for the same £1m. I assume (would guess) that the risk with fire consultants is higher? Regards Geoff

Posted By Robert Paterson Just to add to this thread . I was wondering on how much indemnity insurance should a consultant be covered for when just starting out. Any thoughts on that would be much appreciated. Jason, I would be interested in the information you have as I may have to look at the posibility of consultancy on a full time basis. Any help in that direction would be helpful. Thanks Regards Robert Paterson

Posted By Paul Craythorne I went for the £1,000,000 cover because I do work for a large insurance company and also for other consultants who required me to have a minimum of £1,000,000. I suppose it depends on what level of work you are doing and who you are doing it for but I personally would not have gone below £500,000
