We are currently in the process of creating a new post with a focus upon manual handling assessment and training. We are keen to develop an individual for this role and would like to know of any recognised qualifications in manual handling?
Can anyone help?
Thanks

IOSH offer two courses so I believe:
1. Getting to grips with Manual Handling: operations risk assessment.
2. Skill in manual handling training: Manual handling - for instructors.
Both are two days training. I have found other training providers who offer similar courses including our local college for example. One company I can recommend (having studied Noise at their centre) are based in Cambridgeshire - look on their website www.wata.co.uk. Hope you find what you are looking for.

Hi Clive,
I don't know if this is an appropriate answer for you but I'm currently 'training' as a Training Officer relating to Manual Handling Instruction and as part of our studies we have been put through 3 RoSPA courses, 'Safer People Handling Trainers Course', 'Safer People Handling Conversion to Object Handling Course' and 'Safer People Handling Risk Risk Assessment Training Course' which relate to Manual Handling training for carers and nursing staff, as well as other areas. We also studied a course with Centaur Training Limited which relates to Handling People with Special Needs.
All were interesting and appropriate to what we were doing, hope this is of some help to you,
Cheers,
Jan

Clive,
all our maual handling instructors attend the RoSPA instructors course. Being in the Removals and Storage industry we have found that this suits our needs perfectly.

To answer your question mate there is no such thing as a 'recognised' manual handling qualification per say.
