NEBOSH Cert first and possibly NTU diploma second. Cost will be about £3,000 - 2 years study and and a seriously damaged lifestyle. Seriously! you will have to put everything on the back burner until studies are over.
Good luck & all the best

Hi Lisa,
First off, if you opt for Dip1 check the facts as NEBOSH are altering the syllabus on diploma soon and this may work in your favour (or not!).
I was in a similar boat a year or so ago. I opted for Dip1 via one of the more respected training companies.
This comprised of doing the 'conversion course' which requires NEBOSH Certificate and cuts down some of the class room study (5 to 3 weeks, in blocks) and also the cost, but you still have the same work to complete (assignments, exams etc).
The NEBOSH route has it's detractors but it depends on how you respond to exams, assignments, 'NEBOSH-speak' (a term used by those who can't read exam questions properly!).
If you are paying this off your own back, ask the course provider if they can help - many will adjust the fees. I got a discount which pretty well equalled the VAT - not to be sneezed at.
In addition, it depends on what time you can get away from work. I was on temporary contract at the time and managed to negotiate this into my terms & conditions.
Important for me, it was done and dusted in 6 months. It was quite a challenge but it all worked out very well in the end with a good result and a new permanent job with an employer who is happy to support me through part2.
When I opted for this route I was pretty much in the dark about NVQs or the NTU Diploma, which may provide better solutions for you.
I hope this helps, whatever you decide to do, do it quick as it is much easier once you bite the bullet and it's really worth some sacrifice. If you need specifics on course provider, costs etc get in touch.
Good Luck & Happy New Year!
John
