Help
Have not noticed any thread for Aberdeen before so here goes.
Any oil industry related H&S people out there in Aberdeen looking for a 'coiled spring' stuck in a rut??
Completed NEBOSH Certificate 3 years ago then worked as H&S Co-ordinator for 15 months. Completed NEBOSH Diploma Part1 last year and have been working as a Safety Advisor in a high risk industry for last 12 months.
All qualifications done at my own expense and in my own time.
17 years experience in armed forces and emergency services.(Management roles in both). Also experience as Safety Trainer (Fire Extinguishers, Fire Warden, Evac Chair, Accident Investigation, Risk Assessment) and specialist lecturer for NEBOSH Cert and Diploma Part 1.
Looking for full or part-time(2-4 days per week) employment in the oil industry. Don’t mind trips offshore.
Anyone with a vacancy please get in touch. Also any advice appreciated.
CV available on request.

Jim,
My experience is that things are very quiet here in Aberdeen on the HS&E front. I know of a number of HS&E people who have recently been 'let go' due to a lack of work. Significant numbers have had to relocate to Egypt, Nigeria, FSU, etc. if they wanted to remain employed.
What vacancies there are tend to be in those parts of the globe, with leave cycles of 9 weeks on 2 weeks off, or worse!
Regards,
ross Stirton

Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to pass on info and advice.
Although no new doors have opened up I live in hope.
The main feedback seems to be “if you aren’t already in the oil industry- you aren’t getting in!!!”
Therefore in order to gain the required oil industry experience, from April I am available to work for free 1-2 days a week (possibly more) for any Safety Professionals out there willing to give me work experience.
Any interested parties please contact me by e-mail and I will forward my CV to see if I may be of any use

There is a reluctance / unawareness, i contacted probably the best known hand held power tool producer about particular items used in a workshop re; vibration details of thier equipment.
Their reply was our tools are only for the DIY user. Another Brick wall.
