Hi folks
Background: Small District Council in the North West, dubbed "The Worst Council in England" after Audit Commission assessment 2 years ago (long before I arrived, I hasten to add!!!). Going through major change due to the assessment and possible local gov't boundary changes. Apparantly poor public opinion, hostile local press and lots of stressed people. Only one person "trained" in stress awareness, asessment and management, and "competent" to carry out stress risk assessment (yes, Me!)
Am carrying out risk assessments for individuals specifically identified as being at risk, but am too busy to do any more.
Have been asked to "explore some contacts to see if we can set up some sessions for staff on how to manage their stress more effectively"
Can anyone help?
Mike

Good Afternoon Mike,
With Reference to Stress management, a couple of years ago shortly after my present employment it came to light that there had been members of staff paid off in out of court settlements for stress related illnesses.
I enquired as to the whereabouts of any policy relating to stress in the workplace, and was told if there is anything it will be in the conditions of service it came as no suprise when nothing was found.
From that point a policy relating to stress in the workplace was developed and implemented by myself after receiving many seminars and lectures on stress. The company that provided the training was called (in equilibrium) the training was a bit clinicall and pompus with this in mind I put together my own training and it is what we have been using since.
I am about to be made redundant soon and if there is a possibility of some consultancy/training work available I would be interested. You can email direct if you wish to discuss.
Regards
Tony

I can certainly help. My organisation supplies stress awareness sessions and assessments in two ways, either face to face or via an e-learning facility.
I can set you up a password to have a run through the online version if you wish.
I live in Manchester so could get to see you at your convenience. My mobile number is 07814 010830 or email craig@eighty20consulting.co.uk. Web address is www.eighty20consulting.co.uk.
I look forward to hearing from you.
