Hello all, I have just registerd with this forum, after see the advice shared within it.
My question, I have just completed and hopefully pass the NEBOSH General Certificate, I get my results in August, I am in a good position where my boss will fund the NEBOSH DIP in September.
I am not sure which one to do,'New Nebosh Diploma Level 4' or the 'part1 and then part2,
Please help I don't want to make a mistake now and suffer in the future. This is going to be a career change and I want to succeed.
Many thanks for your time,
Kevin Swanwick-Jones

Go for the Level 4 as you might end up doing it anyway after the dip 1.

Go for an NVQ 4 and on to NVQ 5, in my experiance this ie becoming much the prefered route.

Just be a bit wary about doing the NVQ route. Rightly or wrongly, this is sometimes seen as the "easy" route and some employers specifically ask for the Diploma. Good luck with whichever you choose.

kevin, do yourself a favour and do either of the following: Diploma at woodland Grange or Diploma at nottingham trent university, both will give you full membership of IOSH.I think you will find these a touch easier!!These were not around when I was a lad, I had to do it the hard way....oh how I miss those days of revision....NOT
You will thank me for this , Stella will do nicely.
Good Luck
Kevin
(hope my spelling ok ,spelling/Grammer nazi's might be watching!!! )

Forget both the NVQ and Diploma route, there both too expensive and have a high failure rate. Go down the Master Degree route.

I agree with Keith but not for financial reasons. The Masters degree is easier than the Diploma (I've seen both - I did the Dip and my wife did the Masters). In the safety world I think that they are given equal status but when it comes to HR units in companies who don't understand the safety qual's - you are bound to be preferred with the Masters.
Cheers

Surely to undertake a Masters you have to have some form of Health and Safety qualification, such as Postgraduate Diploma.
The NEBOSH Cert, a qualification aimed at supervisors and safety reps, will not give you entry on a masters course.
I did NEBOSH route personally , but would advise anyone else not to bother and take the university routes instead.

For the price/time/studying equation... try the Woodland Grange conversion and then ring Portsmouth Uni for the year long OU course that will give you a post grad degree and MIOSH accreditation. @ £3200 for the diploma and £1000 for Portsmouth it seems by far the chosen route for several people.
