Posted By Geof Joe, don't know if it will help but you could try putting your preferred area down.

Posted By Jim Walker Joe if you (and Neil) want to send me your cv? use jim.walker@alstec.com, not clickable adddress As Geof says it depends on where you live. IOSH really ought to be considering a "clearing system" for cases like this. Anyone wish to comment?

Posted By Kelvin Hughes Joe. It may be useful if you could get yourself settled into a job with a company just to get some money coming in, and them offer your expertise to this company to gain some experience in health safety and environmental issues. You could then look for a permanent S.H.E. role while gaining this valuable experience. Good luck Kelvin

Posted By Raymond Rapp Ditto...although I may be in a slightly better position than Joe et al, in that I have a relatively well paid job and I am waiting for my 'ship to come in'. I have just completed a MSc in H&S Management and graduate next week. It appears very difficult to get a meaningful position in h&s, even in my own industry (operational railways) where I have worked for over twenty years. I have also some considerable experience in h&s through being a TU h&S rep and part-time consultant for a recognised company. Hence I have decided to take the plunge and complete a degree in Project Management starting this September. Someone recently joked that I could end up as the most qualified train driver in the country...it's not so funny now! Jim raised a good point, regarding a 'clearing house' for those who are seeking a job and have a good qualification and/or some experience. Perhaps the problem is that there are too few jobs in the melting pot. I wish Joe etc all the best for the future - as for myself, I will get there eventually, just hope I do not run out of funds first. Regards Ray

Posted By David A Jones As I said in response to a previous question 'employment in health & safety required' it may seem obvious but try looking at the job adverts on www.shponline.co.uk - there are a number of jobs there for people who are still getting qualified or have limited experience or have just qualified, including one I posted. The jobs are there just make sure that you apply for the ones that match your skill set and don't set expectations too high

Posted By Brett Day If this is no against the forum please delete and let me know: If it's any use John Levy @ BBT used to deal with rail, it might be worth dropping him a line as whilst it's not H&S, with your 'insider knowledge'I'd have thought you'd ahve been snapped up. I'll e-mail you over the weekend
