Posted By joanne doherty Hi all, I am desperately seeking my first position within health and safety, I have recently completed my nebosh certificate and am waiting on results, I have had a few interviews but feel my lack of direct experience is letting me down, however i do have the passion and the commitment so if there is ANYONE out there willing to give me a chance to prove myself please get in touch. Jo.

Posted By Lynne Davis Good luck so far that you have had a few interviews. You can use the experience from these to get more interviews. As is always emphasised on the discussion forums, keep trying. However, youth may be a factor. I have General and Construction certificates. Although there was an initial flurry of contacts from agencies when a CV was submitted, only one interview resulted, nothing since. So as I have limited experience, I am going for Dip2 and see what happens after that. Probably, too old, too qualified, no experience. Keep trying Joanne.Be determined, it pays off eventually.

Posted By Richard Pigg Lynne, May I suggest you focus you efforts on getting commerical H&S experience. I don't believe someone with no H&S experience and a NEBOSH Diploma 2 is more employable than someone with a NEBOSH Dip 2 and no experience. Posted By Debbie Hubbocks I started working in the H&S Department as an administrator whilst doing my NEBOSH to get my foot in the door. I am currently out and about on site with our H&S Manager learning the ropes and getting the much needed experience. Good luck with your results.
