Posted By Geraldine Corbett I was made redundant from a high profile QHSE role in April. I'm now employed by a prestigious car manufacturer, but not in a H&S capacity. I miss it dreadfully! However, I only want P/T employment 15 - 25 hours a week. Is there a company out there who would like to employ a dedicated, hard working QHSE advisor, in the South Cheshire/North Staff area? I have NEBOSH Cert and ISO 9001:2000 Lead Auditor Cert. Thank you!

Posted By Neil Harvey Geraldine - You live in the same geographical area that I do. I currently work for a national organisation that has its HQ in London, but I've decided that I need to move on, if only to preserve my sanity! However, I've found that there is no H&S work in South Cheshire/North Staffordshire. Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Staffs County Council sometimes advertise, but not for a while. I applied for a safety adviser's job with Cheshire County Council last year (advertised in the local paper, would you believe), but fell (I think) at the psychometric test hurdle. If it's practical, you're probably going to have to expand your geographical horizons a bit to find something suitable. I recently looked at applying for jobs at York and Liverpool, but in the end decided against either. Best of luck, and let's hope we don't end up applying for the same vacancy!

Posted By Geraldine Corbett Thanks for your feedback Neil, and taking the time to post a response. I think you're right; when I tried for H&S work in March/April this year it was an up hill struggle........you'd think companies would be fighting to have H&S knowledge 'on board!!' I wish you lots of luck in you future career.... By the way.......does someone want to prove me wrong???
