I have secured a second interview next week and want to make a good impression during a presentation with my knowledge of H&S. I am confident of my presentation skills, but need help with the subject which is "H&S issues that are likely to effect the organisation in the next 2 years". The employer is in manufacturing.
Any pointers would be very appreciated.

David,
I'm just about to take up a new post in manufacturing (large tanks, bouyancy systems and wind-farm turbine casings) so I'd be interested in what you consider might be the key points to look out for in the next couple years.
I can think of HAVS and stress management as key issues, with the new REACH system having some impact (although indirectly). The decline in enforcement might be another (more controversial) topic.
Could you put it on the forum for discussion rather than emailing direct?
Thanks!

Seems obvious, but what future European influences/Legislation is in the pipeline. What about Corporate Killing! now there's an issue likely to have an impact on us all. Securing Health Together and Revitalising! are these going to have a future impact either because of failure or success. Then there is Corporate & Social responsability, Do we have a conscience or is legislation going to give us one?
I can definately see future legislation to make companies publish health and safety performance in annual reports along with profit & loss sheets. Ahh I can see it now!
(Yes share holders we did well this year with 3 Billion pounds profit and oh! by the way we killed 5 workers and polluted the atmosphere 7 times in doing so')
With a little imagination you could go ape with this question, however be carefull not to scare them too much.
Good luck on the day from one who had 3 interviews and finaly got the job.

Do some research on the company! but dont be flippant.
You say your good on health and safety - look at the health and safety and envirionmental issues that could affect their operations, again dont be flippant.
Listen carefully to the questions and ask them to repeat those that you may not understand.
Lastly - ask for your start date!
Good luck and keep us all posted.

Hi Carl
You might like to consider the proposed change in the Noise Regulations due to come within the next two years. This would effect the employees if they are in a noisy environment.
Kind Regards
