Posted By David Nicholls Does anyone know of an instance where somebody has been accepted for membership of IOSH with a NEBOSH cert and a BSC DipSM, (combined with 4 years H&S safety experience), maybe at TechSP level? I understand that each application is considered on merit, but I wouldnt suppose it would hurt to rate my chances before I offically apply!! Cheers

Posted By Peter Lee Cases are definitely not judged on merit, accredited courses only I'm afraid (been there done that). Seasons Greetings.

Posted By Bill Fisher David Rather than get responses which give little value, why not ring the Membership Department at IOSH (0116 257 3100) and get a definative view. Good luck Bill

Posted By Peter Lee Bill, Could you care to explain what "responses which give little value" mean. For the record I have contacted the membership department in the past regarding upgrade and was told in no uncetain terms "accredited courses only" of which the original poster does not have. Its all on this website; membership information/accredited courses So the answer is No he will not get Tech SP Regards

Posted By Dave Nicholls Bill/Peter, Break it up guys!! This is the season of goodwill isnt it? You are both missing the point. The idea of my original post was to receive some feedback and share your experiences. Although you have contrasting comments, I consider them all to be valid as you have taken time out(however small) to answer a 'shot in the dark' question from a relative stranger. At least now I know of someone who has tried to join IOSH in the same position as myself and has been told they dont make the grade, so to speak. On the flipside, I can either rest on my laurels and that take that advice or I can ring IOSH and find out from them - at least that way I'll know for definite either way. Whatever way you look at it, you have both saved me a little bit of time and wasted effort, as now I wont bother sending in a potentially fruitless application (for now at least!) For this, I thank you both. Kind Regards Dave
