We advise clients in a wide range of industries including power, transport, utilities, healthcare, education, docks, mines, prisons, defence, nuclear and waste management. See www.jacobsbabtie.com for more details. We employ over 30 qualified health and safety advisers and trainers, including 17 corporate members of IOSH. We have a track record of helping people gain experience and qualifications. For example our former departmental secretary has attained a level 4 NVQ and MIOSH status. In the process, she has been involved in a vast range of projects, including spending a week in the Falklands to co-deliver IOSH Managing Safely. Substantial effort is currently being put into integration processes. Our health and safety advisory structure at present has been based on a single MIOSH Corporate Services H&S Manager, who is responsible for procuring additional resources from our H&S consultancy business stream. However, as part of the integration process, it is proposed to substantially alter and expand arrangements for internal health and safety advice and training, with a seven fold increase in the size of the Corporate team, whilst still procuring some services from SafeSolutions@Jacobs. This team would include one adviser as the first point of contact for each of four operational business centres and one adviser specifically responsible for railway issues [including maintenance of our contractor assurance case], all reporting to a senior HSE professional. The final post in the new Corporate structure offers a career development opportunity for a new H&S, environment or construction graduate, who wants to develop their career in the field of occupational health and safety. Posted By Artful Dodger A short posting, describing the vacancy would have been nice, not a long rant about the company history and organisational plans. I lost the will to live about 1/2 way through, so I won't be applying. If thats the length of a intro to a job advert, I hate to see your internal paper work.

By your lack of patience and need to see the full facts I reckon Mr Gotch would doubt your commitment to the facts and ability to ingest the full information available - all crucial requirements of the safety profession. If you can't be arsed to read through the information available, how can you come to a sound conclusion - are all accidents the fault of the individual in your book because you can't be bothered to investigate the root causes? I wonder.....

Posted By Artful Dodger Don't think I was being harsh - just asking for people to get to the point. I usually live by the old slogan K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid When writing reports etc, people don't want to wade through lines/pages of irrelevant information - the reason for the job/organisational changes could be discusses at interview and/or as part of the information pack supplied for applicants.

I tried to save readers from wasting time by highlighting in title that the location is NOT flexible. That plus finding 5 new staff at various points on their learning curves via this forum this year alone. On this occasion, I dare say that the "debate" which you started may have accelerated the hit counter. I suppose I should thank you for putting my posting back to the top of the page. So thank you. Posted By Jez Corfield Artful If you read the original post you will see that CV's are wanted directly, there is no application form/pack to get the relevant company details from. Therefore including this much info is important if a potential applicant wants to 'tailor' their CV. Anyway - the information is being put their for vaguely serious jobhunters - not your entertainment. Jez

I don't mind having fun and jesting with people, AND people making fun of me - I can give and take it - but I don't expect to receive offensive postings adressed to me personally.
