Currently, I have 5 years practical H&S experience and gained NEBOSH Cert, Diploma Part 1 and admitted Tech SP. I also intend to gain the NEBOSH Diploma Level 4, Bridging Cse sometime in the next year or so. Can anyone advise me on CV construction orientated towards H&S and any other useful qualifications now required in the field of Health & Safety?

Posted By Hugh McKnight Mick, I disagree slightly with Andy about going for the plant/crane side of H&S. Although your REME/engineering quals & experience may prove valuable in going down that route, it depends on what field you would like to pursue. After 22 years (REME) I purposely steered away from equipment maintenance, as I felt I'd had enough of engineering for the time being, and didn't want to restrict my future options. I couldn't agree with Andy more when he advises to establish what you need for full IOSH membership, and make that your number one goal. There are various courses which you may be able to get on, which would not only enhance your CV, but provide evidence of continuing development. e.g. training/teaching, noise assessor, DSE assessor, manual handling instructor etc etc. Where at all possible get on courses which result in some form of recognised civvy qualifications As regards your CV, some of the recruitment websites provide good advice on compiling the CV. A couple of examples being www.pps-safetyselect.com, and www.totaljobs.co.uk. The pps website has a (pretty basic) CV template which you can download. I wouldn't put too much value in the advice given on CV's during Career Transition Workshops briefings (if they are still running), as from personal experience they only wanted to compile a CV using my main skills (at the time mechanical equipment support).
