Posted By D Geoghegan Has anyone got any suggestions on how to avoid the manual insertion of rollpins by hammer. The roll pins we use come in approximately 10 different sizes such as: 5x 50 mm, 5 x 45 mm 10x 50 mm. The ideal method (apart from complete automation), should be one with low noise and free from MSD risk - too much to ask for???

Posted By Jim Walker I've done this a few times using a big g-cramp, to compress the pin into it's hole. Of course it requires a situation where you can apply the back of the tool to somewhere solid. It is standard workshop practice in the automotive trade to use a press for this. If my memory serves me correctly, many years ago someone lost their eye driving a roll pin in with a hammer.
