Posted By Clark Winton Combs I have recently began working with a company that has facilities in England and Ireland and need information on training requirements in the UK. Some of the training that has been identified for their facilities in the U.S. include: fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, PPE, hazcom, forklift training, welding, cutting and brazing, etc. I have not had much experience with european regs and would greatly appreciate any help in finding information on: where to find the regs, differences in training requirements(documentation, course content, etc), names and contact info of qualified trainers (I may be in need of a lot of training during January in Dublin), etc. Any information that can be supplied will help. Thank you!

Posted By peter gotch In Great Britain, the Health and Safety at Work etc Act is supported by various Regulations - I will email you a list of those applying across all sectors including eg agriculture and mining. Any Regulations made since 1997 can be downloaded from www.hmso.gov.uk See especially Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 Also see www.hse.gov.org You should consider buying eg Redgrave's Health and Safety from Butterworths - contact www.butterworths.co.uk (Book and CD Rom with updating service as the legislation changes [which it does often!]) In Northern Ireland parallel legislation applies. In the Irish Republic much of the legislation is similar. Much can be downloaded at www.hsa.ie We do not have LOTO as a term over this side of the pond. Isolation and Permits-to-Work and similar instead. Good luck, Peter
