Posted By PETER GANNAWAY Firstly: I may be a little behind, but can anyone tell me if the draft ACOP relating to smoking in the workplace which was doing the rounds about 12 months ago has now been turned into a proper ACOP & Guidance note? Secondly: Has anyone undertaken a risk assesment for staff who go into smoke rooms to clean? If so what controls have you put in place to minimise the affects of passive smoking?

Posted By Ken Taylor I believe that the situation is still the same as when you last asked this question on 24.04.01!

Posted By Robert Woods The HSC has recommended to the government that there should be an ACOP drawn up using the findings of the 1999 consultation document. In the mean time we should all be working to the HSE IND[G] 63 revised Passive smoking at work. In answer to the second part of your question, only employ cleaners who smoke. [Only Joking]

Posted By Jay Joshi Yes, there are a few initiatives that appear to have been delayed. In particular, it appears that the passive smoking ACoP was recommended by the HSC to the government, but was "delayed" in the Better Regulation Unit due to the concerns raised by the hospitality industry.
