I am trying to put together a health and safety package for outdoor pursuits.
I have tried some of the governing bodys but with little success. If anyone has any experience on this subject and would be willing to share some of their infomation I would find it of great use.
I have personal experience of climbing, walking, canoeing and horse riding.
I want to but the final package in towards my NVQ4 and if wanted make it avalible to all.

For risk assessments in our schools, I found the following sources helpful:
Cheshire County Council Outdoor Education Safety Policy (Canolfan Conway Centre, Llanfairpwll, Ynys Mon LL61 6DJ);
Lynx UK Risk Assessments in Pysical Education;
RoSPA;
DfEE Guide 'Health and Safety on Educational Visits';
The Scouts;
information from some governing bodies;
internet sites on specific activities; and
consulting staff who engage in the activities.

Publication: Safe sport in Universities.
Produced by BUCPEA. ISBN 0 948634 80 4.
A very well put together guide and covers all the outdoor activities i can think of, detailing safety considerations for each one.
Loose leaf format.

I was asked about this sort of thing by a local voluntary group. I found Lancaser Universitys Hiking club useful. Sory lost URL but should be something like www.lancaster.ac.uk
