Has anyone out there encountered problems with birds flocking on astroturf (seagulls in this case) resulting in large build ups of droppings.
If so what methods of cleaning up were used and what preventative measures were used? Models of eagle owls have been used in this area in the past. They worked for a short time but are now white with droppings.
An interesting discussion for a friday afternoon!

You could try a search under bird guano on the HSE site. There are a couple of papers available on a similar problem with helidecks offshore. Other alternative maybe is to use a falconer, guess it might not be cheep (sorry couldnt resist it !).

Seagulls normally congregate around food sources. Maybe your astroturf is harbouring a population of tasty morsels. Have a close look, there could be worms or insects. Eradicate these and they should go away.
If all else fails, get a 12 bore.
