Posted By Mike Foulds Hi Folks Can anyone in the transport or warehousing industries give me any indication of the sort of Driver Assessments / Competence Testing / Training Records etc that they use and keep to ensure that all their staff are suitably trained, kept updated and monitored. I have a transport dept using many different sorts of vehicles, the drivers are licenced but my concern is thet the transport managers are not carrying out any pre assessment or conversion training and more importnatly have no records. I want to put changes in place to ensure that each driver has the support and training needed not just given the keys and told to go deliver. What industry standards or guidelines are there? Come on Eddie, DHL, Christian Sal, what do you do and what records do you keep We have FLT's well and truely sorted but transport....sorry seems a different mentality. Thanks for any guidance Mike

Posted By RP September 2009 see the introduction of Driver Continueing Professional Development (DCPC). This will be compulsory for all drivers of vehicles over 3.5t carrying out commercial work. There are some exemptions. This will require drivers to undego 35 hours of periodic training over a 5 year period to gain thier DCPC certificate. Google it...
