Posted By edmund barker Can an eighteen year old machine operator operate his machine on twelve hour shifts? He is fully trained and risk assessment has been carried out and signed off, he will also have the department supervisor on next machine and will have rest breaks.

Posted By Bob Youel can an eighteen year old soldier fight in foreign countries on behalf of this country on shifts = yes. So come from this angle Do the usual risk assessments etc as the average 18 year old is more than capable and OK to undertake such activities provided common sense and mature supervision is around - Use the Working Time law as an additional guide

Posted By SteveD-M The definition in the management regulations of a 'young person' is someone who has NOT reached the age of 18. The normal rules apply tho' - Information, Instruction , Training and Supervision. Along with the employment rules governing working time, risk assessment, communication..etc. etc. Have a good day....:-)
