Posted By jervis Hello all has any one got any advice on sleep in rooms size, should there be separate toilet and wash basin etc. Room is also doubled up as an office during day. For info a sleep room is used in a care home where you would have one awake staff and one sleeping in. Nights only . Hope that makes sense!!

Posted By A Campbell For hygienic reasons I would not advise on having a toilet in the sleeping area... wash basin and joint office area i presume is not in use by the other person so wouldn't cause sleep disturbance? Size of such rooms not sure of any legislation that covers a non work area myself

Posted By Kieran J Duignan Jervis Haven't you got interesting work challenges. In your situation, I would start in four ways. One is ensuring compliance with the Health, Safety and Welfare at Work Regulations A second is considering safeguards in respect to the conditions of the temporary, apparently makeshift sleeping arrangments. These may include safety for lone worker; the circadian rhythms of those who sleep over (as some people have sleep patterns which prevent them adjusting easily to irregularity in their sleepoing arrangements) A third is consulting people who you expect will use the room to establish their (reasonable) expectations. And the fourth is regular surveillance questionnaires to establish an audit trail of written feedback.
