Posted By .e Hello. I've just been asked at short notice to put together some risk assessment training for managers, not a problem and I've put together a punchy presentation, I've got a bunch of quiz's and a few exercises, but well, they are a bit crap. I'm just wondering if anyone has some well recieved risk assessment training tools that you can recommend? Thanks in advance.

Posted By Richard Altoft I do a lot of risk assessment training courses and one of the best uses the afternoon to get out on the plant, usually using a big workshop as the example. Candidates are given nothing except a pencil and a clip board of blank sheets. They are told to forget about software and just use their brains and eyes and experience to do the HSE five steps. They then do a short feedback on hazards, controls and the likely effectiveness of those controls. Very enlightening to all concerned and several new hazards turn up every session. R

Posted By Jay Joshi You need to tailor your risk assessment training to your own processes/procedures and keep it as simple as possible (provided your procedures are simple!) Is the purpose of the training for the managers to become competent risk assessors in thier own right or is it about raising their understanding of the risk assessments that are carried out by others, but approved by managers?

Posted By .e Thanks for comments/replies. Yes, the purpose is to become competent risk assessors in their own right; basically the materials I have are useless as don't really relate to the purpose of the training. I was just after different methods to give instruction, information for them to gain understanding to then go on and perform RA's at the latter of the session.
