Hi guys some more help from the experts (Thank god for IOSH) Just a quick one...Can someone please give me there take on the regulations for COSHH Lockers. I am thinking along the lines of labelling etc.....do we need to list the content on them for the fire brigade. What warning signs should I use.
Thanks

Alan Hi,
Try checking online with the suppliers of coshh lockers, most of the ones I've seen only have a flammable diamond. However depending upon what you are storing / using you may need to add extra coshh diamonds. you will also need to be aware of what substances can / cannot be stored together, also you will need to ensure your coshh locker has a drip tray (bund) inside, usually at the bottom.

good luck

Alan,

you will have to display COSHH signage on the locker front. I would also have copies of the COSHH assessments near the locker too.

The emergency services should also be made aware of any substances on the premises which offer a significant risk to their heath.

You will need the appropriate upright yellow triangle; if the substances all have the same hazard, use the appropriate symbol. If the hazards are different, use the exclamation mark.

Why not mark the locations and substances stored on your site plan so when the brigade come on site they know where and what they are dealing with?
