Posted By Stephen Mitchell Hi Samanthah
Whilst I am not an expert on fire safety (there are many other IOSH members far more qualified than myself) I would suggest that you give some idea as to what environment the person undertaking the training will be managing/assessing in relation to fire safety.
The reason for this opinion is that whilst it may be possible to be become competent to perform fire risk assessment in one day for a very low risk small office type environment; I do not believe the same could be said for large multiple story/occupancy office buildings or other higher risk workplaces (such as large engineering sites where many different processes and or flammable chemicals/gases may be present).
With a little more information from you I’m sure someone will be able to offer help or advice.
Cheers
Steve

Posted By samanthah Hi, Our site covers 4 buildings and has a engineering block, a lab, distribution area and two buildings contain a clean room.We have chemicals that are highly flammable (but are kept in a fire cupboard) Its a 24/7 operation so I think it would be a high risk Thanks for you suggestions

Posted By Eliza Flutterby Hi again!!
The premises would be high risk. I'm not aware of any one day courses that would be suitable, but I'm sure someone else will be along to advise!
Best of luck
Eliza

Posted By Stuff4blokes Hi Samanthah, there have been a few similar threads. Try http://www.ior.org.uk/io...ewsdetail.php?r=ELE7TLXMand others. I believe that for anything other than a handful of people in a single storey office, the required level of skill and knowledge is more than can be gained in a 1-day course. The Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) has guidance as to what they think is required for competence in this area. They also suggest a number of training providers. http://www.ife.org.uk/do...t_Fire_Risk_Assessor.pdf
