Posted By Peter MacDonald Hi Guys
I've recently moved company and one of my early projects is to get the company accredited for ISO18001/14001.
I'm sure plenty people have gone through this process already.
How was it? Can you give me a heads up on any tips etc to make life easier.
Note I'm not looking for a copy or abstracts of anyone's system or names of companies that facilitate accreditation. Just some tips, idea of timescales, amount of input, and if the process will be as onerous as I think it might be.
Cheers
P

Posted By Stuff4blokes Peter, the length and ease of road to achieving your aim depends upon where you are starting from and how co-operative your co-passengers are. Does your organisation already have 9001 accreditation?
Decide which of the several organisation you place your trust in, look at their online guides and documentation and compare that with what you have at present. Make a judgement on how committed the middle-management is to the expressed aim and you should then be able to make a reasonable judgement.
If there is a good HS&E system in place with a fully supportive and particpatory management team, plus a working quality management system you are very fortunate. Otherwise, add a big multiplication factor in to your calculations of difficulty.
Good luck.

Posted By David Balkwell Hi Peter Just a couple of points first 18001 is not an ISO yet but is a BS (after 10 yrs of hard work) and the term used (by the responder Safety....... ) on the point of accredited 9001 is incorrect too - Certification Bodies(CB) are accredited (if they want to ) and CB provide certification or registration Try an online support service drop me an email for the link - most cost effective route and best source of info davidbalkwell@mobileemail.vodafone.net Regards David
