Posted By dangermouse Please can anyone help, I need to arrange a Disabled access survey, has anyone done one, or have contact with someone who could do one, or knows if I could do one with a check sheet or some help? The property is a multi let office comprising of a basement car park, ground to 5th floor offices with front and rear stairwells and lifts. Ground, 1st, 2nd and part of the 3rd floors are currently vacant with tenants occupying the rest of the building. A main entrance lobby with security staff on the ground floor and a fire exit to the rear of the building from the 1st floor. The net let able area of the building is approximately 43,000 sq/ft.
i'd really appreciate help thanks very much

Posted By ian_f Dependant upon your specifically need; access audit and or access action plan; I would suggest going to the National Register of Access Consultants www.nrac.org.uk to seek a suitable consultant/auditor.

If you are truly asking about DDA surveys rather than one with a specific H&S slant then I suggest you get a competent surveyor familiar with this type of work. It is not simply about checklists but is also a matter of professional indemnity.
I am often concerned that we as saffety professionals are crossing the barriers into other professions' business competence.
I can let you have a name if you email me - and no they do not work for my organisation - I am retired from full time work.

Posted By ian_f You didn't say whether you were doing it for the landlord or the leaseholder/tnt?
I would be extremely careful about just having a go...! You could end up recommending the usual large stuff like lifts and ramps etc where they are not necessary and forgetting some of the finer detail, such as contrasting paint between floor and wall surfaces, metal handrails, 1-handed toilet paper facilities etc etc.
good luck!

Posted By Linda Westrupp Have you tried contacting your local council? Most have an Access Team who would be happy to help with advice and may even be able to carry out the survey for you at a reasonable cost. Good luck Linda
