Normal for a PC to stipulate what equipment can be used on thier site.

When involved in interior fit out's they always stipulated what podium's can be used and from what supplier you are allowed to get them through.

coming from someone that works on skanska, bovis etc.. projects - how long before they all start following suit?

It's a positive reaction to a terrible accident IMHO.

I don't see an issue with this, as a result of that very accident we've effectively banned them on all future construction sites. I would expect to see other major contractors in the UK follow suit and these things being slowly phased out over time.

There have been numerous similar accidents over recent years due to these pieces of equipment, and several very near misses that I am aware of.

Not much of a debate then......

We had half a dozen and upgraded when we heard the news.

Ironic because I had been banging on about getting them for several years with no success, when we did it turned out they caused fatalities
