Would any one be kind enough to share any information or risk assessments/emergency plans etc for a large village show, approx 25 thousand people over 2 days. Are there any specifics i should be looking at. Many thanks.

Hi there

I would recommend a good starting point is looking at The Event Safety Guide HSG195. ISBN number 978-0-7176-2453-9.

I would use the headings from the different chapters in this guide to form the basis of your risk assessment, and you might want to add a few specifics if everythings not covered. Basics should include:

venue and site design
Fire safety
Emergency planning
Communication
Crowd management
Structures
Barriers
Electrical installations and lighting
Food, drink and water
Amusements, attractions & promotional displays
Sanitary facilities
Waste management
Sound - noise and vibration
Special effects - fireworks and pyro
Medical, ambulance and first aid
Children
Information and welfare

Personally I have found that the key to effective event safety management is to appoint one person in over all control to co-ordinate health and safety and delegate tasks and chase up people and make sure everyone communicates with relevant people.

Good luck with it all!
