Posted By Kevin john Potts Could any of my learned colleagues tell me if i have remembered correctly ? We use a bailer that has a conveyor belt that feeds the cardboard into it. I seem to remember being told that operators should not be able to touch the conveyor belt. I cant remember if this was because a specific set of regs applied to conveyor belts. Anyone able to help ?

Posted By Roger J H I have in the past given advice on this along the lines of the Provision and Use Regs (11 Prevent access to dangerous parts), not aware of specific legislation about not touching them! I guess its risk assessment looking at speed, conveyor material and machinery hazards generally... to establish risk the HSE science and research people have provided a link to an external doc you may find useful: http://www.sro.hse.gov.uk/View_Article.aspx?id=168
