Posted By Descarte I believe NEBOSH Dip will allow Grad IOSH membership, not all MSc. programmes will so check the one you are looking at does if that is your aim. My own personal generalised view is that the MSc can take longer than the diploma (3years or 1 yr FT), the MSc can also be more expensive, NVQ is likely to be more hands on and work based (thus does not have any exams unlike the MSc), the MSc is a higher level qualification (NVQ 7?) but both are accepted as professional level qualifications this thread may also answer some of your questions: http://www.iosh.org/inde...=3&thread=39700&page=481 "NEBOSH Diploma vs BSC Level 6 diploma vs MSC " also there are many other threads on this subject Des

Posted By Stuart Hamilton Here is my tuppence worth on the matter (I note you indicate the MSc choice is through PgCert/Dip process). There are many factors that will affect your decision, however an MSc can be accessed using the NEBOSH diploma or a post grad diploma route - so if your ultimate aim is to get an MSc then either route is possible. If it is CMIOSH then it is down to cost, quality, convenience (over simplistic I know, but not far of the mark!) That said, cost can be a significant factor depending on how you intend to study, so if you are self funding the course this may be an important consideration (but not necessarily the only one, as quality of provision is important) Check out the costs of colleges/universities for their own diplomas or the NEBOSH prices The post grad cert (Strathclyde Uni) or post grad diploma type qualifications are often unique to the university offering the course, in this respect the exams and projects are set by your lecturers, so over the period of your course you will pick up on how they like things answered, they can also give you guidance and support that is likely to be relevant to the topics/processes that feature in the exam and project work. As I understand it the opportunity to question the NEBOSH question setters is not an option, this of course may not be an important factor. Which ever route you choose, you should ensure it is a recognised qualification in terms of GradIOSH (or at least part of the route towards GradIOSH, it will also be hard work, but rewarding in the end. hope this helps in some way.
