Can someone please confirm for me the correct height for handrails on tower scaffolds please. I have 3 docouments with 2 stating 950mm and 1 at 910mm!! http://www.theargus.co.u...complain&cid=7944296 http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/cis10.pdf quote from HSE CIS47 Provide suitable edge protection on platforms where a person could fall more than 2 m. Guard rails should be at least 910 mm high and toe boards at least 150 mm high. An intermediate guard rail or suitable alternative should be provided so the unprotected gap does not exceed 470 mm. Thanks Trevor

Would you re assess the height of barrier if the worker was extremely tall, i.e. over 7ft tall, with legs longer than average?

I assume you must have an old version of CIS47 - follow the link below for rev1. http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/cis47.pdf The minimum height was changed to 950mm (ie. 1m +/- 50mm) with the introduction of the Work at Height Regs 2005. The vast majority of system scaffold towers will comply, although some very old systems and any tube and fitting tower erected before 2005 may not.
