Couldn't log directly into forums today - had to go via home page.

System has lost the profile info (again) that I keep re-entering...

Worn out now!

A

...and when are we getting the smileys that I thought were promised?

Don't know if this is relevant admin but I can't log in on my desktop (windows OS + Internet Explorer) yet I can through my mini-book (Linux OS + Mozilla Firefox)

I have a similar problem. I can’t log in this forum as myself; I have to log in as a guest.

I am a CMIOSH but can’t register as such on this forum. I have had some contact form the site team but the contact has dried up. I’ve had to re-register on the main site as well.

Hi Ahoskins,

Logging into the Forums requires your Screen name and Password but logging into the Direct website Accepts both email and Screen name. I would suggest to use your screen name as your main log in.

I'm unsure why the system keeps losing your Profile information, I will look further into this and raise this with the developers.

Concerning Smiley's I'm unsure if this was orginally agreed to be used in the forums. However, Forum Avatars are something we are hoping to release.

Hi Safety Smurf,

As far as i'm aware, there is no issue with Windows OS and IE explorer, This sounds to me like a firewall problem? With some users we are getting them logged on but are having some difficulties using the same operating system on another computer ( usually at work ) Please check your firewall settings on your window's OS computer.

Many thanks Andy.

I do use my screen name to log in, but it wasn't accepted by the forum login. It is now.

Not sure if smileys were in the specification, but they were requested by members I believe. (could be a memory thing though...)

Is anyone else using the additional profile info?

Andy - you aren't as far as I can see, so maybe if you tried adding something to yours you could check if the same is happening?

Thanks

Andy,
Sorted! (Kinda)

I have the 'OSH discussion forum' saved in my favourites. If I open up that page and try to log in it just jumps me back to a guest. If I go to the homepage, then go to the discussions forum and then log in it lets me in?

I had a problem yesterday logging onto the forums. Each time I logged in it would go to forum main screen with me logged on as ScotsAM - but each time I entered a forum, it would ask me to log in again but wouldn't actually log me in when I entered the detail.

It seems to have resolved itself today.

It's all a bit flaky today; first I couldn't log in at all, either on the home page/MyIOSH or on the forums, now it logs me in but I have to log in seperately for the forums and MyIOSH. And I've never managed to get the thing to remember my details, but I have tried to put them in again so we will see,

jwk -

There was an issue some of yesterday and first thing this morining with users being displayed as "guest" in the fourms even when logged on in the main site but this has been rectified now. I'd be happy to chat through your log on issues - there should be one log on which enables you to view everything so I'm not sure why you have to log on three times. Send me a PM or email arwen.murphy@iosh.co.uk

Thanks,

Winnie

Hi Ahoskins,

I added information to my profile yesterday and it appears that today it no longer appears. I've contacted the developer who deals with the forums to get an idea if this was something that was turned on or if it is a problem , Until I get a response I'd suggest you do not fill the fields in again. I will notify you with the outcome. Concerning Smilies, I am due to have a meeting today concerning Avatars I will try and get a better official stance on these and again get back to you.

Hi Safety Smurf,

Very unsure of why this is occuring, I will try this out for myself and see if I can reproduce the problem so I can hopefully get a better understanding and hopefully get back to you with a resolution. As a solution to this, I would suggest using Google Chrome, which has a Remember function and a spell checker as standard, This might solve some of your issues.

The explanation given by Winnie above explains this, hopefully this is resolved and will not continue to affect your account.

The log in issues could be explained by Winnies response above, however all users on the main site should be abled to log in with both Screen name and Email, however when browsing the forums and requiring to log in, you should use your screen name. You should be abled to access MyIOSH with either of these accounts.

Remember me function is something that is being worked on, but is a low priority at the moment, I can only suggest you use Firefox or Google Chrome, both have the option to save the password in browser, Google Chrome also has a Spell Checker built in.

Kind regards

Andy Carter

Hi Winnie, Andy,

Thanks for your responses; my issue has resolved of its own accord, no problem logging in now,

This is ridiculous.

I just spent about twenty minutes carefully composing a reply to a thread on here and posted it - only to discover I'd been logged out and the post has disappeared into the ether....

At 23.10pm I'm not in the mood to be wasted like this!

I understand the need for the site to log out people who are not actively 'doing something' (where there has been no activity or navigation on the site for fifteen minutes or so). But surely there must be a way of recognising that someone is actively typing a response, and should not be logged out? And if they are logged out then for gods sake put a 'temp save' facility in place so we can retrieve the effort we've put in... PLEASE?

As per the above, I was writing a detailed response to a thread earlier and was distracted by a telephone call, when I got back to the PC I found all my hard work had disappeared. Most frustrating. My reply did not get repeated 'cos I was so angry! It could heve been the right answer to someone's question.

I received an email from IOSH with link to a survey, duly completed. I answered honestly and openly, just hope whoever collates the info looks at the negative responses regarding this forum.

Hi Steve,

I will bring this up at the next meeting, which will take place in the new year. I believe that the 15 minutes of inactivity will remain at the moment, I will raise this point accordingly. There are ways of seeing if you are still logged in. by Right clicking on "discussion forums" and selecting "New tab/New window" this should open a fresh page in which you can check to see if you are still logged in. If you are not, continue to log in and as you hit post it will act accordingly.

Hi Chris, please see the response above.

Hi Slater 24187,

There are some issues and bugs to work through with the new website, but once these are worked through and the issues are resolved you will see the vast improvements next to the older website.

Hi Chris

This will be collated and we will be reviewing all responses fully and dealing with the main issues. As you can see, we have taken an active role on the forums, answering questions and dealing with issues where we can.

If you have any further questions please email me on Andy.Carter@iosh.co.uk or PM me.

Kind regards

Did you receive the PM about My Profile I sent you earlier this week?
