Steve, I actually present Asbestos Awareness Training. I have asbestos qualifications - S301; P402; P403 and p404 plus I am a Tech IOSH. I am also qualified to teach through my military and civilian qualifications. As far as I am aware there is no formal requirement for this Asbestos Awareness Training. DAS P.S. I am also from the Yorkshire area.

Reg 10 CAR2006, ACOP: "All training should be provided by someone who is competent to do so...." That's about as far as they go. HSE used to hold a list of training providers, the responsibility for which has now passed to UKATA (ukata.org.uk). They are moving to improve standards, but are not yet at an accreditation level. Some organisations on the website are very good, one in particular I wouldn't touch with someone else's bargepole. You pays your money.....

Thats what I thought, it comes down to competence, not accreditation or qualifications Steve

I cant agree more, however there are very few 'statutory' competencies to undertake training, can only think of first aid. How do you ensure this PASMA / IPAF / UKATA / IATP etc etc I know most of you people dont work in construction and most will be able to do this, but most major construction people want UKATA or IATP just the same as they want PASMA for towers, although most H&S People can do this as well.
