Hi All

Like many others before me my role had been made redundant (CMIOSH - HS&E Manager) - had been with the same business for 20yrs and finding the recruitment process more than a challenge and demographically I have conceded to the fact I may have to relocate and also consider a different industry sector. However on a more positive note I have an interview with a leading packaging / manufacturing company (18/08/2014), my background has primarily been in logistics - wholesale distribution would anyone be kind enough with experience of working within the packaging industry etc. be prepared to share knowledge of working in such an environment and what to expect?

The challenge for me will be selling my transferable skills to an industry I have never worked in.

Many thanks,
MartB

The basics, fundamentals, principals and philosophies are the same wherever you go e.g. the duty holder is the duty holder and so on and a good professional can use this fact to their advantage noting that in all cases a facilitator [H&S bod] should be supporting the experts [the day to day people who actually carry out the work] and by supporting will learn the detail over time - One big problem [in my personal view] is where the H&S bod undertakes the risk assessments themselves which should not be the case

best of luck and I am sure that u will be OK
