It's not sour grapes but has anyone else had to deal with this?

The interviewing manager has the 'IOSH managing safely award' and is interviewing me for a safety role?

Needless to say I was not given the position!

I would have thought that most people are interviewed by and then work for people with lesser H&S qualifications than themselves.

I was interviewed by and now work directly for the MD, who apparently has been on a IOSH Directing Safely course. I suspect that may have been in the 1950's by the attitude.

I was interviewed and I don't think either have Safety Qualifications- it doesn't bother me, they know safety pushes my buttons :-)

Maybe they were recruiting a safety person because they didnt already have one in place, and therefore no safety qualified person was available to interview you.

There's a difference between being a good health and safety professional and being a good manager. To be a professional you need to have detailed knowledge of H&S, to be a manager you need to know how to get the best out of your team. It's more about leadership skills than knowing specific paragraphs from legislation or standards.

Just to digress a little I was perusing the Job boards and one of the requirements for one of the roles was that you had to have extensive experience of and I repeat ROUTE! Cause analysis. Just makes you wonder who would be interviewing you for that role lol
