Hi All,
I have just gone through the IPD & Peer Review Interview process and have successfully be given Chartered status, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the subject.
All the years ago, after passing my NGC, I thought I knew everything there was about H&S...... How wrong was I!!!! Everyday I learn something new, that was certainly true, when I had to answer one of my part B questions on the open book assessment.
Peer review was scary, but scary for different reasons, firstly fear of the unknown and secondly because how close you are to CMIOSH and thirdly being interviewed by my peers, as they have been where you are, so no room to hide, but in that said, the IOSH administrator, who spoke to me before going in, put me at a bit more ease and because the panel have been the process, they want you to pass. PS Don't forget the Code of Conduct!
I feel very proud to be CMIOSH now and more so because, I have self funded, all they way through from NGC, Level 5 & now IPD/Peer Review.
Congratulations to all who have achieved this and good luck to those going through this process, you can do it!

Congratulations, I am a Grad IOSH and am now looking to achieve my CMIOSH.
I haven't started my IPD or CPD as of yet as I have just been recruited by a large housing association in London and requiring to set up H&S management systems, policies etc. and just can not find the time.
However your post has ignited a spark in me so I think I must sit down and start.
Any advice on how and where to start would be a great help

I caution them that "they don't know what they don't know".
They might think I'm being arrogant, but later when they have reached the same stage as you, they seek me out and tell me I was right all along.

I've been in Health and Safety 23 years now and most days I still learn something new - hence CPD. Always a new challenge or a better way to do things. I think it keeps it interesting and varied as a job and I still love it.
Keep striving to be better today than you were yesterday.

I have just passed my open book assessments and awaiting the peer interview. Everyday I learn somthing new in my job which is the main reason I love what I do. At 31 now i feel i am ready to have the interview with my peers but this whole journey began a good 7 years ago!

Well done Tim I know exactly how you feel - I also found the PRI a nerve racking experience although I have had my fair share of interviews and do loads of presentation, this was so very different as it is being carried out by your peers.
I agree with what you say about the panel and the IOSH facilitator being there to help you get through it, they did make me feel a bit less nervy!
My PRI was last week and I received the e-mail letting me know I was successful yesterday, I feel so pleased with myself and like you said, its been a long time coming and a lot of work but now its finally here it hasn't quiet sunk in yet!

It seems like its far away in the future for me, only passed NCC in december, still.....onwards and upwards!
Im hoping as my knowledge & experience grows over the years that the thought of the Peer Review gets less scary (although I didnt even know about assessments A & B before today when I found threads on here which sound tricky too)

All I can say, is you have the 7 days for part B, so research it and take your time, I struggled more condensing it down to the word limit.

I currently volunteer quite alot of my time for IOSH Midlands North District as the Communications Co-ordinator.
With close links to IOSH I have spoken to many people who are panel members for PRI's and basiocally this process is to clarify that you are who you say you are (chancers in the past).
Dont forget that upto this point we have done all the real hard work...
Looking forward to my PRI aslong as i pass Part B.
If you want any advice or guidance on CDP/IPD i am moe than happy to help.
At IOSH Midlands North District has a learning academy to which we will be holding CPD sessions and IPD discussion forums as we have great experience in this area.
Well done to all that have passed this process and good luck to all going through this process.

Hi all, passed my part A and submitted the part B on Monday this week; keeping my fingers crossed. Do you know how long it takes until we are notified, is it 2 weeks and if so can it be sooner, or sometimes later :)
Thank you in anticipation, worth while totally to go through. Enjoyed the process to refresh my knowledge and also learnt many new things which is always a bonus, been a very nervy 2 weeks!

Its hard work to get there and most none H&S people have no idea how hard it is
I did 'personnel management', 'process and production management' and 'marketing' to degree level but found the H&S to be much more in depth with a wider spread of things to know and unlike other occupations has a real day to day chance of being prosecuted and more

Congrats to those of you who have passed and gotten your CMIOSH.
I am in the beginning stages of preparing studying for Part A.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Looking over the syllabus I seriously wonder if I have taken too huge of a step.
I have been GradIOSH for 3 years and went the NVQ4 route.
Revision suggestions anyone??
It's knowing where and how to start.

I am just about to start the process for CMIOSH and was actually thinking what have I done? am I ready? but having read the post from people who have completed the process and who are going through it I have a new feeling of confidence..

I put it off for a long time and I am now very glad that I completed it.
Like a lot of things it's not as bad as you think it's going to be and it's well worth it in the end.

Congratulations to you Tim, i know it is not easy to be CMIOSH. You must passed through rigorous examination and interview.It is not a piece of cake.I am so much excited with your crown and i pray that this success would be a flood of blessings to you and your family.
I am a graduate iosh, planning to start my IPD very soon but compare and contrast other similar organisation or professional bodies that are not like iosh and see what they have in stock.
