We have a small workshop where we use FLT's and over-head cranes to move a variety of materials and equipment about. All our employees are fully trained and we have risk assessments for the individual pieces of kit. Is a lift plan required for each lift?

Michaelt Check your procedure first however: -Is you load which need to be lifted by over head crane is irregular shape? -off set center of gravity? possibility of moving around? -Constrained place involved during lifting ? -Dangerous Materials to be lifted? If the answer is no to the above questions, go a head with your current risk assessment. SHV

Michaelt For simple/common lifts that are carried out on a regular basis a generic lift plan can be used in conjunction with the risk assessment for the activity e.g. FLT or Overhead crane etc. if you are carrying out a tandem lift which is a more complicated operation, you will need a task specific lift plan drawn up by a competent person. A company fell foul of this recently http://press.hse.gov.uk/...shed-by-two-tonne-frame/
