Hello All,

Firstly, thank you to everyone who contacted me with career oppurtunities, I am over the moon to say I have been offered a new position which I am very happy to be starting shortly.

I am going to be involved in work to do with Asbestos and Legionnela- this is all fairly new to me so does anyine have any advice on some good sources of info to help ease me into these subjects a little bit? I have the asbestos regs and L8 from ther HSE. Is there anything else anyone would recommend at all?

Thanking you in advance

Jodie

The HSE also do Asbestos Essentials series of info sheets ie A14 is for the Removing asbestos cement (AC) sheets, guttering etc and dismantling a small ac structure.

There are a number of these in the series

Worth a look

Good luck with your new job

Well done on the job!

You might have a look at BOHS offerings on both subjects

Good luck Jodie. We're here should need a little help. Better to ask than plough on through the mist. Everyone needs a little hand now and then :-)

Thank you Robert, I've never been without great support on here :-)

Thank you also Walker, I think BOHS P402 and P405 was in the desirables part of the job spec, but I was honest and said I had no idea but would learn- so maybe that helped me a bit. Perhaps it's something they will offer as training?

good news

In all cases do not forget to work from base principals and common sense whilst remembering your competence 'position' [we have all been there] noting that whilst both areas U mention are important they are just 2 areas of many areas in a business that are important - and as already said, use this site for help and support as needed

Thanks Bob

I am just looking at these at the minute as they are 2 of the big 3 areas I will be involved in to start with. I just want a basic understanding to start with so on day 1 its not completely terrifying but just scary :-)

Good luck Jodie...sounds like an LA?

With regards to asbestos, HSG264 is a good read as is L143 ACoP for CAR 2012. Both can be located on the HSE website.

Thanks RayRapp

It's building services for a well known organisation as a Compliance Trainee- so a new big challenge :-)
