Hi Im considering moving to Germany and trying to understand if the qualifications i have are sufficient for a career in health and safety in Germany or do i have to sit the International General Certificate and how do i get to understand the laws over there? I have the Level 5 NVQ Diploma In Occupational Health and Safety and the Level 3 National General Certificate and I'm also a Chartered member of IOSH. Any advice welcome, Thank you

Hi Andrew - Germany is one of the nations that regulates its professional H&S people, unlike the UK where we are allowed to practice without government registration and qualification - so you have to be licenced. Send me your contact details by email and I'll send you some info.

IGC would be no help. Its essentially the same as the NGC with all the UK law stuff filleted out.

Thank you both, Walker I suspected this would be the case with IGC. Steve , My email is andrew@baines.com Do you have to be licensed to work even if you work as a consultant that works on behalf of a company or is this only for those that work as a freelancer? I'm more likely to work on behalf of an insurer as a risk assessor I think or within education as I do in the UK.
