Folks I am having my Peer Review Interview in the next couple of months. I am aware that IOSH used to give out core questions before the interview, however this has now stopped. I have tried to google for core questions but with no success. Does anyone have the core questions which would at least give me an idea of the types of things I will be asked. I would also appreciate any advice from someone who has recently completed the peer review interview. Any help would be appreciated. Eddy

Hi Eddy If you have reached the interview stage you will have fulfilled the requirements set by IOSH to get your interview, that being the case none of the core questions will be out of your area of expertise. I am not a big believer in IOSH giving the questions out in advance. When you sit on a peer to peer interview panel its sometimes obvious that the candidate as managed to get hold of the questions in advance. I much prefer to listen to a candidate who doesn’t know the questions in advance but answers them drawing on their past experiences and citing examples of things they had an involvement in. Trust in your own knowledge, abilities and experience Eddy, there are no trick questions and if you are struggling to answer a core question, supplementary questions will be used by the panel to drawn you out. 3 sections A - your experience in the SDP/OS process B - 6 core questions C - IOSH code of conduct Good luck and let us all know how you get on. Steve

If you google "IOSH Peer review interview core questions" the top of the search results will be a presentation that lists all of the core questions

Hi Eddy Sitting as a panel member doing the interviews I know IOSH are in the process of a complete overview of the core questions so the existing ones might, not be applicable when you come to your interview. As Steve has stated though you have reached this stage so the questions will be based on your curriculum vitae and presentation as they are designed to find out what you have done not to catch you out. I know it is nerve wracking for interviewees but we are friendly and there to hopefully get you to what you are aiming to achieve. Good luck. Regards Darren

If it helps, I recently had my interview and the panel were great - very much put me at my ease and if I'd not covered what they needed, they asked another question to draw it out. It is very much about your attitude to safety and experiences rather than technical knowledge.

If you speak to an EDA at your branch they will be able to guide you through the process. If you are stuck for someone in your area as an EDA myself I am more than happy to discuss with you. Please e-mail me if you need any further advice. Ang.
