Hello all,
I am currently living and working in the UK in a EHS Management position in engineering, but would like to move back to the middle east at some point in the future, I have 4 years experience of Dubai but not in a H&S capacity.
Are there any specific qualifications that would improve chances of gainful employment?
Any local specific H&S issues study/learn that would help (local regs , legal stuff etc)?
Current moral implications (workers welfare etc)?
Job hunting/CV advice?
Thanks!

For oil and gas projects , Due to oil low price, majority of the projects are in hold and some even combined to reduce the costs....our advice to other people in OHS field in middle east is , stay as much as they can in their current roles, until booming up again...even though doesn't look to be very near.... Good luck

Rees,
You could always consider looking for HSE positions in Qatar. Due to the current planned Olympic games in 2024 there is a load of major capital projects in infrastructure upgrades inclusing rail, roads, heavy civil's and multi-storey construction.
Your previous experience and contacts in the Middle East is bound to assist you making good connections at least.
I would also consider embarking on an International NEBOSH certificate course if you do not already possess.........Hope this is of some help.

Hi Rees,
As I am and have been working in the gulf region for the last 16 years. the last 8 years in OHS. I found NEBOSH IGC is a must, having said that in most cases is not what you know is who you know carries more weight in this part of the world unfortunately...
But things are changing fast..PM with CV I can pass it on to a few people I know
Good Luck
