Hi all! I have passed my Nebosh Construction Certs a while ago; I started to work as H&S Advisor for a construction company after a batle which took me aprox 1.5years with my old company for a assistant position or a junior in health and safety, in the end I had to leave my old company to start my new career in h&s, which I do not regret. At the minute I am studying for the Diploma. My questions is what will be involving a role in Occ Health ? My new company have came up with this idea to train me in Occ Health by supporting me to pass the Nebosh In Occ Health and Welbeing Management Cert to look after the Occ Health side of it. I would like to know more if may I before I take this one on. Thank you

Afternoon, this all depends on what you mean by the 'Occ Health side of it. Occupational health practitioners are usually either doctors or nurses with a specialism in OH, though therapists can also qualify. The NEBOSH cert certainly wouldn't qualify you to do this. If you are talking about running workplace wellbeing programmes with an enhanced knowledge of workplace management of occupational health risks then the cert might well be the right way to go. If you are looking to manage an occupational health contract as an 'intelligent customer' then something like the @work partnerships certificate in occupational health management would be a good option. Lina Health is a massive subject and an interesting one to work in. It covers things like: * Health Risk Assessment * Industrial Hygiene * Medical Emergency Management * Human Factors Engineering / Ergonomics * Management of Ill-Health * Fitness for Task/ Health Surveillance * Health Impact Assessment * Health Reporting For suitable courses it depends a bit on what industry you are in now. You may find the "NEBOSH Health & Wellbeing" is a bit HR centric or too lightweight. For being able to provide competent advice on a number of health hazard areas you may also require more in depth courses such as those accredited by the BOHS. http://www.bohs.org/ Don't think you have to be an expert in all areas of health, certain activities are commonly outsourced. Some companies employ their own doctors and nurses

Thank you for the reply. I think the company will like to be in charge of getting ready, maintaining and review procedures and stratagies for the wellbeing, stress, mental health, etc. best l
