Hello...I have a friend, who is going through the NEBOSH National General Certificate. His last exam is in June....He has been a Carpenter for 5 years, and wants a career in Health and Safety...He's based in Liverpool and was seeking advise on the best way to get a start on his health and Safety Career.....Any advice?
Thanks

Volunteering is a good way to get some practical experience.
As he is a carpenter then looking at roles in the construction sector would mean that his "on-the-job" experience would be advantageous.

Don't do it is my advice. The market is flooded with h&s people.

If the area of preference is construction then I would advise looing at doing a Construction (Design Management) Regulation 2015 awareness. As a carpenter of 5 years it is a good starting point because of experience on sites and the awareness of the dangers potentially faced.
The key thing with going in to health and safety is do it because you are passionate about it and want to make a change by giving people the correct information, training, and skills to protect themselves. Have confidence in what your message is and be prepared to justify yourself from time to time.
We all make a small difference so go for it.
