Does anyone know if this course - NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation - is based on the HSE workbook - HSG245 Investigating accidents and incidents
Or has anyone been on the course and if yes have you any comments on whether it is worthwhile
Thanks

I've been following the progress of this thread, because I have the same question. I was thinking of putting some managers on it next year as part of their on-going H&S training.
From what I can see, there aren't too many providers of it at the moment, so maybe that's why no-one has been on it?

Hi guys
I think it would depend on the role you would like the managers to take during the investigation. If they are expected to lead and complete the investigation, including a full RCA and preventive actions, then perhaps an introductory course wouldnt be the best idea - for more indepth analysis I would advise TapRoot or Kelvin Top Set.
These are the industry recognised courses (in Oil and Gas anyway) and are quite comprehensive (I can say so about Kelvin as I have done the 3 day one) as for TapRoot I hear good things.also hguidance on RIDDOR and what to do in the event of a reportable event including reporting scales and internal reporting procedures.
Ofcourse, it will come down to your budgets ofcourse and another consideration is the incidents you forsee and the complexity of these incndents
