Hi

Just wondering whether fixed ladders and gantries (eg those accessing silos or tall machinery), and including integral stairs too I would imagine,  would be require a Working at Height occupational health assessment or is such an assessment only for those who use mobile ladders, MEWPs, rope access, scaffolds etc

Essentially I have an employee who has been stopped fromWaH due to an OH assessment, but does that restrict them from fixed gantries accessing silo tops?

Thank you

I think your question is the wrong way round.

The important question is whether this individual, who has already had an occupational health assessment, is fit to go up fixed ladders or not.  If the occupational health assessment says they are not fit for work at height, without any qualification of what type of work at height this applies to, then it would be difficult to justify getting them to go up fixed ladders.  Only the occupational health practitioner would be able to clarify whether they meant all work at height or just work at height with particular equipment.

That's an entirely separate question from whether other people who go up fixed ladders should have occupational health assessments or not.  Once you have got the results of an assessment, you can't just ignore them.
