Morning. Anyone heard of Watersafe. Dad in law recently had a water leak under his house and claimed on his insurance. The insurers wanted to know if the repair contractor had "Watersafe". Apparently it is is not as required like Gassafe.

Hi firesafety. You asked whether we had heard of this organisation? Not until you prompted me to look for it. They are "campaigning" to stop the use of lead solder. WOW! Virtually no plumber solders pipes these days. All compression fittings. A little trickier if you live in an old building and the plumber has to connect a new metric fitting to old Imperial sized fittings or pipework, but even that's not particularly difficult. Relatively recently we bought a reclaimed circa 1930 sink to replace one that had a big crack. Plumber ummed and ahhed a bit but solved the metric/imperial tangle without much bother. Upstream there are specific "National Water Hygiene" qualifications to help ensure that people who work on our water infrastructure don't contaminate the water supply. National Water Hygiene - EUSR Looked at the Watersafe website. Just one of the UK water companies is listed as a "partner".
