Hi,

Despite the fact that the use of  Class B AFFF foam fire extinguishers has been in the news since 2023 and will be prohibited from July 4th 2025. What alternatives are being chosen? I have arranged for my organisations Foam extinguishers to be replaced next week and some will be just water and some water mist. I am being pro-active and getting a head start on the upcoming changes, but was wondering what the best options are.

Thanks, Steve.

As no one has responded with over a hundred views.

Not quite -The problem foam in question is classed as C8 or C9 chemistry. Any recent new extinguishers or refills should be with C6 chemistry foam. This may also eventually become a problem, but it is allowable for now and immediate future is my understanding.

However, if you want to change your extinguishers and go away from foam, then it will all depend on what type of fire you may need to extinguish.

Chris
